**Attention: It is normal for this Eucalyptus species to have pressure cracks in the wood. Don't worry! The grain is very stringy, tightly twisted, smooth, tough, and strong. All Eucalyptus sticks are unique. No two are alike. You will not get the exact stick you see in the photos. You will get one similar at the length / options you chose. About the Artisan: Doug Ballagh I was born and raised on the Central Coast of California. Both my parents had artistic skills and some of that was passed on to me. The first medium I focused on was clay because I loved using the potter's wheel. The clay was hard on my skin so I moved on to other materials. I found "fused glass" and enjoyed the wonderful colors I could create and unique jewelry that could be made. From there I found the art of metal work. I began making useful items from horse shoes and railroad spikes. After becoming comfortable with metal, I moved into forging knives. Most of the knives I make are from leaf springs. The metal is tough and holds a good edge. Using the forge allows me to create knives that have forging marks left on them. Each one is unique and a statement unto how it was made. I have also used saw blades on files to make knives. This process requires me to reshape the existing material into something that I believe is unique and beautiful. I have recently found the art of making walking stick and canes. Each one is made from naturally grown and shaped eucalyptus. No two are alike. Each one is finished with butcher block oil and is safe for your hands. I hope you enjoy my pieces as much as I do. I will be adding new items as they are made.
